Every painting has a story. This one is a story of belief, of a quiet strength offered without condition, and of the profound impact one person can have on the trajectory of a life.

Over a decade ago, I placed my final brushstroke on this piece and dedicated it to Caroline Collett.

Caroline is the very embodiment of everything good about life, about Britishness, not in any clichéd sense, but in her substance. A spirit of unwavering honesty, of integrity, and a heart that believes in the potential of others. I always think of her as one who's "life is full of life". She is one of those rare souls who possesses an innate love for beauty and meaning.

Very quickly, she became a strong pillar in my art life. In the often solitary and uncertain pursuit of art, she was, and remains, my go-to human in those moments of desperate need for pure honesty. Caroline never failed me. Not once! When I prepare my paints, my canvas and my thoughts, Caroline's spirit is there, observing, almost judging.

With time, and through my relentless, and I am sure, at times, annoying, pursuit of her ideas and point of view, she became more than a critic or a confidante. She became a reminder. A reminder that I must never stop, to push and elevate. That comfort is the enemy of creation.

For me, Caroline understands, fundamentally, that art is life's quintessence, its purest, most concentrated form.
